Happy Valentine’s Day!

Rachel and I have a tradition of making handmade Valentines for her friends. We did a really simple chocolate bar wrap this year. It’s easy and you can adapt it for any occasion. And kids can totally get in on the action.

We found the cutest little weiner foam die cuts at Target a couple week ago. We snapped those babies up immediately. We love weiner dogs.

The first step of this project is to measure the length of your chocolate bar. 6x6 patterned paper is easiest to use because you only have to make one cut (the length of your bar.) This bar measured 5.25”. Then you just wrap your paper around and secure it with a few glue dots. Then decorate however you like.

You can use these for wedding or birthday party favors. Or for any holiday – Easter, Halloween, Christmas. The sky’s the limit.

So cute! And we love cute. Have a great sweetheart day.

(papers are all My Minds Eye. Yes, I’m obsessed.)

Valentine's Day Treats: Part 3

I know ya'll think I'm obsessed with jars. Yep, I kinda am. I collect them whenever I see one I like. I know I'll use it one day. Target, IKEA, Walmart, Carolina Pottery, Michael's, The Container Store. I'm always on the hunt... This particular jar I snagged at Michael's one day about a year ago. See? I told you I would use it one day :)

This little cutey gator is again from the Cricut Create-a-Critter cartridge and the label is cut with PTI's large limitless layers dies. The papers are Cosmo Cricket and My Mind's Eye. Ribbon is American Crafts.

The jar is stuffed with Hershey kisses - the ones with the cherry cordial filling inside. YUM! They remind me of my grandmother, who always had chocolate covered cherries hidden in her house at any given time. And you'd have better thunk (i know that's not proper English, but it fits OK) twice about putting your hands on her chocolate, too. That'll have gotten you evicted from her house. No joke.

Later gator,

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge - Chocolate Pockets

Hey there! This month's challenge from PTI was to use one of their stamp sets that you've never used before and haven't used in a while.  Sign me up! I love any excuse to get crafty.

So...I dusted off my "Mixed Messages" and "Garden of Life" sets to create what I'm calling Chocolate Pockets for Valentine's Day.

Just take a small piece of wool felt, fold it over and stitch on each side. I'm loving those decorative stitches. Then, I die cut a piece of My Mind's Eye patterned paper using the Spellbinder's vintage label die. I used the Ghirardelli square chocolates as my measurment guide.

I forgot how much I love the stamps from Garden of Life. The two-step stamping makes coloring the images a breeze. PTI: If ya'll are listening, please, please design some more of these two-step stamps.

I added a little sentiment from Mixed Messages to each label. They are the perfect size for this!

These were so easy to make! I'll definitely be using these Chocolate Pockets again. You could use these for anything small that's packaged - tea bags, hot chocolate, notepad, eye shadow, M&M's...basically any packaged candy.

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you back,

Valentine's Day Treats: Part 1

Valentine's Day is just around the corner! All too often, I wait until the last moment to do treat bags for Rachel's friends and our loved ones. Not this year! I'm on the ball.

I'll prove it to ya -

I'm in love with these cute little jars from Ball. I use them just about everything - pin cushions, treats, jams, buttons, spices. I knew they'd make adorable little treat containers for Valentine's Day, too!

I stuffed the jar to the gill with those delectable little Ghirardelli Raspberry Squares. Oooo - they are so good! The melt-in-your-mouth dark chocolate outside with the gooey Raspberry filling...

excuse me. i need a moment.

OK I've composed myself.

The adorable little label for the jar lid was made with the PTI large limitless layers dies and the bee was made with my Cricky using the Create-a-Critter cartridge. (Papers are My Minds Eye.)

Important tip: Use 3 large pop dots to attach the label to the jar lid - NOT THE RIM. That way, your recipient can still unscrew the rim.

I'll be back tomorrow with another nifty Valentine's Day treat idea. Til then,

Traci
